What does the Canadian government advise ?
"Avoid non-essential travel outside Canada until further notice" is the official message given by the Canadian government to its citizens as for August 2020. However, as displays the map, more than 50 countries or territories have reopened their borders to the Canadian tourists, and there are more to come in the coming weeks.
For those willing to travel abroad, a mandatory quarantine will have to be observed upon return to Canada, whatever the country that has been visited. "To limit the spread of COVID-19, travellers entering Canada must follow the rules set out by the emergency orders under the Quarantine Act" says the government. Upon entry into the Canadian territory, travelers will be asked to acknowledge they must quarantine (or isolate if they declare having symptoms).

Are the United States open to Canadian travelers ?
Indeed, Canadian citizens can travel to the United States. However, the land border remains closed as for August 19th, so travelers should fly to enter the US territory.
